Medipol Healthcare and Education Group has been providing healthcare and education services with 10 hospitals and 3 university campuses since its establishment in 1992. The hospitals are located in İstanbul, while 2 university campuses are in İstanbul and 1 in Ankara. With the education it gives and the difference it creates, Istanbul Medipol University adopts the principle to generate individuals who have acquired permanent high qualifications, who have a focus on the production of science and technology and who can respond to ever changing demands of the society and it takes it a responsibility to contribute to the scientific knowledge as well as to the welfare of the society. The number of employees in the group is 7.747, while there are 803 medical doctors and 1.165 academicians available in the group. Currently, there are 67.000 students in our 3 campuses and 11.000 of them are foreigners coming from different countries to study at Medipol. The complex includes General, Oncology, Cardiology, and Dental Hospitals, and offers its students applied education. Other health facilities of the university are Dental hospital in Haliç Campus, Vatan Health Center and Esenler Health Center.

Medipol Mega University Hospital started providing healthcare services in July, 2012. It consists of 5 main complexes such as General Surgery Hospital, Cardiovascular Surgery Hospital, Oncology Hospital and Dentistry Hospital. It has 810 beds capacity for inpatient treatment. To exemplify, there are 215 intensive care units which consist of 45 general, 120 newborn, 23 cardiovascular, 9 coronary and 18 Pediatric intensive care units. The hospital provides services with 260 outpatient clinic room, 32 operating theatres and it comprises of 58 departments or disciplines together with their sub-branches. When the whole capacity is considered, it is the biggest private university hospital in our country. Total personnel number of the hospital is 3200 and there are 405 medical doctors.

After the hospital came into service, it has received Joint Commission International (JCI) quality accreditation certification in a short time. At the same period, it has received “JCI Academic Accreditation” which has been put into practice for the hospitals performing educational and scientific works since 2013 by JCI, and Medipol Mega University Hospital became the first accredited hospital in Turkey. Today, the hospital has the ultimate technologic devices for its medical infrastructure. Some of our technologic devices are 1.5 and 3 tesla MRI and 16 and 256 section CT in Radiology Department, PET CT, Cardiac Spect, Spect CT and radioactive iodine treatment unit in Nuclear Medicine Department, 2 Linac (Trilogy and Truebeam), Gamma Knife and Cyberknife in Radiation Oncology Department and intra-operative navigation and intra-operative MRI in Brain Surgery and Orthopedics Department and 4 flat panel angiography devices, one of which is biplan, in Cardiology Department, and latest version of Da Vinci Surgery Robot.

The strongest part of Medipol Mega University Hospital is that it provides all serial technological devices and equipment which are needed for a department, and it has specialist physicians and auxiliary staff who have the necessary skills and experiment to use these devices. The hospital, having SSI agreement in all branches, has given service more than 1.100.000 outpatient as of today and it has been in service nearly 100% occupancy rate for the beds’ capacity. Daily average operation number is 80, and advanced and complex surgical interventions are performed in every clinic. Some of these advanced surgical interventions are liver and renal transplantation; urology, gynecology, ear-nose-throat, general surgery, cardiovascular surgery interventions with the help of a surgical robot, pediatric brain surgery, epilepsy surgery, deep brain stimulation surgery in Parkinson and other movement disorders, advanced oncologic surgery, pediatric cardiovascular surgery, advanced surface dentistry and jaw surgery, and hearing and brain stem implant surgery. Adult and pediatric bone marrow transplantation center, IVF center, hearing and balance disorders center, sleeping center, traditional and complementary medicine center are our special units.

International Patient Services consist of 303 personnel and the services are provided in 36 languages. There are 6 different regions and related regions responsible and marketing staff. These regions are: Asia, Africa, Europe – America, the Balkans, CIS, and the Middle East. The hospital hosted almost 50.000 patients in a year coming from Europe, Middle East, Balkans, Russia, Georgia, Azerbaijan and other Turkic Republics especially for oncology, orthopedics, neurosurgery and pediatric cardiovascular surgery cases. It is foreseen that this number will be doubled in the next year. Medipol Health Group’s International marketing activities and plans include representative offices. It has representative offices in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Serbia, Uzbekistan, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, Russia, England, Germany, Sweeden, Canada, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Algeria, Camerun, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Iraq, Montenegro, Mongolia, Uganda, Egypt, Niger and Bosnia and it has a target to be present in 30 countries.

Besides, cooperations have been conducted together with various universities and health centers from above written countries demanding training at graduate and post graduate levels. Moreover, Medipol Mega provide free medical second opinion, free transfer between airport-hospital-hotel, free local sim card, 24/7 interpretation and translation services, free translation of all medical documents of the patient, arrangement of accommodation either in our guesthouse or in hotels. Medipol have agreement with many hotels in İstanbul and according to the request of the patient, any type of hotel can be arranged.

Medipol Mega have agreements with almost 1000 companies all over the world. There are different business models and Medipol Mega work with many international insurance and assistance companies from all over the world. For those who have international policies, it is possible to have the treatment in the hospital. There is another business model which Medipol work with governmental institutions within the concept of direct billing agreement. Especially treatments which are not available in within the borders of these countries are provided in the hospital. In this type of business, the payer is the ministry of health and the patient is guaranteed by the ministry of health at all costs.
